Post-Graduate Study at Teesside (poursuite d'études)

Dear All,

I really need to know if any of you are interested in studying on the other side of the Channel (i.e. in the UK).

Myriam Mallet, from the University of Teesside, would like to come down to Le Puy to talk to you and the DUT students. However she was thinking of coming at the end of February - I know that does not suit most of you very much. I might be able to persuade her to come a second time if there were enough students to make it worth her while.

She will also be in Clermont end February / beginning March as well for those of you up there.

Can you tell me - QUICKLY- if you are interested - I imagine it is more likely to be the 3D option students - but who knows maybe some of you in multimedia and archi would be interested too.

Of course Myraim will be talking about Teesside but what she says also goes for other universities in England, Scotland, Walers and Northern Ireland.

Anyway, tell me asap (as soon as possible).

France so she may be in a town near you. So you might be able to
catch her.

I'm interested too, and I was going to say something like "but I can come to Le Puy to see her!" but...better not. Cause I suppose it would be a little strange to tell my company something like "hey guys, I'm off this evening cause I'm going to Le Puy, bye!"
so well...I'm working in Clermont, so I can maybe see her when she'll come here?

By the way, do you have an idea of the "deadline" for our decision? I mean, if we really want to go to England at the end of the licence, before which time of the year are we suppose to say it clearly?
(cause it's quite sure my mother will be working in england next year, but it would be in London, or maybe in Dublin...)

Myriam will be in Clermont at the end of February very beginning of March - I am meeting her for lunch on the 1st of March so I suppose she will be doing her presentation then.

Deadline - what a wondeful word - hmmmm - well every year I say that I would like to avoid doing your applications during the summer holidays and every year I get to do them during the summer holidays. Ho hum. Last year Antoine D and Li Jia Hui actually did their applications at the end of September - NOT something I wish to relive...

Only slight problem with Licence is the offical end of your placement and viva (soutenence thingy) which may be a problem - but I am sure that we will be able to work things out with Vincent S.

The Master's courses usually start at the end of September very beginning of October. There is a registration week - which is important to attend almost as much for the administrative side as for the social.

Do you have contact with the students from last year who went to Teesside? Lea, Claire, Steve, Antoine, Florian or Li JiaHui? If not just yell and I will send you their contact details - all of them are lovely people.

By the way, there are many many other higher education institutions that offer courses in the UK - we just happen to have contact with Teesside - have a look on the ucas site (www.ucas.ac.uk) for ideas of univeristies that offer courses in the subjects that interest you.

Oh, just a had a thought - Teesside has a wonderful system of funding - they have managed to get quite a bit of funding from the EU. This is not to be sniffed at as the cost of living in England is horrendous as are the admin fees for going to uni.

It's me again..!

I've been looking at Teesside's webpage and I find out that a certain "level" of english is required, as I supposed...but it's said that we need a certain degree in the TOEFL...so do we have to pass the TOEFL..?

Answer to Mel;

For the required elements it does depend on what course you wish to study - if/when you meet Myriam you can ask her for more details.

Teesside have been happy with students from Le Puy at both DUT and Lic Pro levels in the past so there should be no real problem.

I am sure she will be happy to put you in contact with the course tutors directly.

As for the English language requirements, up until now Teesside has not made the TOFEL complusory. Anyway, with your ridiculously good TOEIC score I am sure that they would waive any such demands.
